WATERPROOF GOLF RAINWEAR

GOLF RAINWEAR

Since our inception, Abacus has always had the wearer of our garments as our main focus. We believe that your golf clothes should work for you both on and off the course, and that what you’re wearing should never distract you from your game.

Abacus' golf rain gear offers the ultimate in function and performance so that you can focus on what really matters. As pioneers in rainwear, we’ve created a line of lightweight gear designed around breathability, waterproofness, and stretchiness. It’s rain gear that doesn’t feel like rain gear so you can look and feel your best regardless of what type of weather comes your way.

INNOVATION IN GOLF WATERPROOF CLOTHING

"THE TECHNOLOGY HAS EVOLVED SO MUCH SINCE WE DESIGNED OUR FIRST RAIN SET IN 1999."

Chris Mattsson, chief designer

Just standing up and down doesn’t ask that much of your clothing. Swinging a club and the movement it entails however requires gear that’s built for performance. When we first started designing and producing rain sets with golf clothing tech, the range of functional fabrics was very limited, particularly in terms of stretch and comfort. Today there are completely different possibilities, and we’re proud to bring them to you in the Abacus golf waterproof collection.

THE NEW ERA OF RAINWEAR

When you’re looking for a waterproof golf jacket—or any other type of waterproof golf gear—you want more than just something that will keep you dry.

Golfers are always in motion, so their clothes need to be suitable for the task. We’ve optimized our waterproof performance-wear to provide exceptional breathability, which keeps sweat and moisture on the outside where it belongs. By adding stretch and lightweight materials, we’ve managed to create rain sets that really work for the active golfer, including both on and off the course.

“Several times during the six Solhiem Cups we did, the European team kept their rainwear on throughout the match, even when it wasn’t raining. It tells me that we have succeeded in what we are trying to do” says Chris Mattsson.

Our goal: design golf waterproofs and rain gear that doesn’t feel like rain gear. And while it’s taken some years to get our customers to trust that our stretchy and lightweight rain jackets are just that (and not wind jackets), the proof is in the performance—and all of the benefits that come along with it.

WHAT IS MOST IMPORTANT TO CONSIDER WHEN BUYING A RAIN SET?

  1. Breathability. Obviously as a golfer you need to be able to move, but all that movement results in an elevated body temperature, which in turn requires good breathability. Lower breathability in a rain set gives the feeling of a “plastic bag,” i.e. you get sweaty and wet from the inside, and not even from the rain. You need high breathability to keep sweat out and avoid that sticky, distracting feeling.

  2. Waterproof. Of course, waterproofing is also important, but almost all approved rain sets today have a sensible waterproofing. What we offer is exceptional waterproofing ratings beyond what you might expect so that your gear can do its job no matter the conditions.

  3. Stretch. From the start, stretch has been a very important function in Abacus rainwear. It is extremely important that you’re mobile and that your jacket or pants don’t hinder your movement, whether you’re swinging or just walking to the next hold. Our stretchy gear won’t get in your way, meaning you won’t waste unnecessary energy on the course.

  4. Lightweight. The weight of your rain gear is also of great importance. A heavy, unwieldy rain set weighs you down, makes you feel clumsy, and requires lots of energy to support. The less weight, the less energy is consumed, and the freer and more flexible you feel in your movements.
